Job brief/ summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our social media marketing team. As a Social Media Team Member, you will be responsible for editing videos, creating graphic posts, and creating various other types of content. You should have experience in both social media marketing and advertising, with a deep understanding of engaging and effective content for our target audience. You should also have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Salary

The payment for this job is competitive and will rather depend on your experience level. 

Key responsibilities and tasks

  •  Create and edit videos using  editing software( either online or offline) for various platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Developing and implementing a social media marketing strategy: This involves creating a plan that outlines the goals, target audience, content strategy, and tactics to be used across different social media platforms.
  • Creating and curating content: This includes writing, designing, or producing content such as posts, images, videos, and stories that align with our brand and client’s messaging and engage the target audiences.
  • Managing social media accounts: This includes regularly posting content, responding to comments and messages, monitoring social media metrics, and optimizing social media profiles to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Monitoring social media trends and insights: This involves staying up-to-date with the latest social media trends, identifying opportunities for growth, and analyzing social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams: This includes working with other departments such as creative, PR, customer service, and sales to ensure a cohesive brand voice across all channels.
  • Engaging with the target audience: This involves building and maintaining relationships with the target audience through social media platforms, responding to comments and messages, and actively seeking feedback and insights.
  • Managing social media advertising: This includes creating and managing social media ads campaigns, analyzing their performance, and optimizing them for better results.
  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in video editing and content creation.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Keyword research

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in video editing and content creation.
  • Proficient in Canva, illustrator and other video editing software.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and social media platforms.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must live within or walkable distance to the city center of Kampala.
  • Availability to work 2 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm.
